Pollen Alert (the “App”) complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of the Republic of Korea and related laws in order to protect the freedom and rights of data subjects, and processes personal information lawfully and manages it securely. Accordingly, pursuant to Article 30 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the App establishes and discloses the following privacy policy to inform data subjects of the procedures and standards for processing and protecting personal information, and to handle related grievances promptly and smoothly.
The App processes only the minimum data related to personal information for the following purposes. The information processed is not used for purposes other than those listed below, and if the purpose of use changes, the App will take necessary measures such as obtaining separate consent.
The App has no sign-up process and does not collect information that can identify a user, such as a name, email address, or phone number.
Public-data lookups pass through a relay server (API proxy) operated by the developer. This server forwards only the values required for a lookup to the Korea Meteorological Administration and the Korea Environment Corporation and returns their responses; it does not keep per-user records of lookups. However, only if the user turns notifications on, the information in Article 2, Paragraph 2 below is kept on the relay server in order to send notifications. Details are described in Article 4.
| Item processed | Method of processing |
|---|---|
| Notification settings (enabled/disabled, time, risk-level condition) | Stored only in the device’s internal storage |
| List of areas saved by the user | Stored only in the device’s internal storage |
The developer cannot directly access this data.
To notify you of a newly released risk index even while your device is idle or the App is not open, the following information is kept on the relay server only for users who have turned notifications on. If notifications are off, it is not kept.
| Item kept | Purpose |
|---|---|
| The device’s notification address (push token issued by Apple) | To send notifications to this device |
| District (si/gun/gu) code of the current location | To pick the risk index for that area (precise coordinates are not kept) |
| Area name shown in the notification, App language | To compose the notification text |
| Notification settings (morning/evening, “High or above only”) | To send only the notifications you want |
| Registration time, last release sent | To avoid sending the same notification twice |
The notification address alone does not allow the developer to know who the user is, and this information is not used for any purpose other than sending notifications.
